Broader Bourse rises while S&P top 20 fall – Acuity Stockbrokers

The Bourse ended the week on a mixed note this week with ASPI increasing by 469.28 points (or 4.62%) to close at 10,632.21 points, while the S&P SL20 Index decreased by 73.32 points (or 1.98%) to close at 3,635.20 points.

Turnover & Market Capitalization

Expolanka was the highest contributor to the week’s turnover value, contributing LKR 4.02Bn or 20.25% of total turnover value. Comm Lease & Fin followed suit, accounting for 11.61% of turnover (value of LKR 2.30Bn) while L O L C Finance contributed LKR 1.44Bn to account for 7.26% of the week’s turnover. Total turnover value amounted to LKR 19.84 Bn (cf. last week’s value of LKR 27.78 Bn), while the daily average turnover value amounted to LKR 4.96 Bn (-10.73% W-o-W) compared to last week’s average of LKR 5.56Bn. Market capitalization meanwhile, increased by 4.62% W-o-W (or LKR 209.15 Bn) to LKR 4,738.44 Bn cf. LKR 4,529.29 Bn last week.

Liquidity (Value & Volume)

Diversified Financials Industry Group was the highest contributor to the week’s total turnover value, accounting for 23.40% (or LKR 4.64Bn) of market turnover. Industry Group’s turnover was driven primarily by Comm Lease & Fin, L O L C Finance and L O L C Holdings which accounted for 92.54% of the sector’s total turnover. Capital Goods Industry Group meanwhile accounted for 21.77% of the total turnover value while Transportation Industry Group contributed 20.26% to the weekly turnover. The Diversified Financials Industry Group dominated the market in terms of share volume, accounting for 31.72% (or 194.93 Mn shares) of total volume, with a value contribution of LKR 4.64Bn. The Food Beverage & Tobacco Industry Group followed suit, adding 31.14% to total volume (191.36 Mn shares) while Capital Goods Industry Group contributed 11.91% (73.15 Mn shares) to the weekly share volume.

Total foreign purchases decreased by 8.9% W-o-W to LKR 0.33Bn from last week’s value of LKR 0.36Bn, while total foreign sales amounted to LKR 0.93Bn relative to LKR 1.11Bn recorded last week (-16.6% W-o-W).
